American history is a steadily evolving subject with new facts, accounts, and narratives coming to light all the time. In writing the many dozens of articles I’ve had published over the years, research has been my most fascinating aspect. Finding new facts or perspectives my readers would enjoy always has been a thrill for me.
Here’s a sample of articles I’ve written, reflecting my main areas of interest: historical events, American social history, and several remarkable restorations and reproductions of American homes going back to the 17th through 19th centuries.
Many of these articles were written for two prominent magazines focused on Americana: Early American Life, where I was a contributing editor for several years, and A Simple Life, where I was a contributing writer throughout the magazine’s 10-year duration.
